Hilchos Lashon Hara, Opening – positive commands (9)

Whoever speaks lashon hara about a kohen and puts him down breaks the positive commandment (Vayikra 21:8), "You shall sanctify him." This commandment tells us to treat kohanim with great honor. By speaking lashon hara about him, one is surely not honoring him.
