Hilchos Lashon Hara, Opening – negative commands (8, 9)
Sometimes the speaker also breaks the negative commandment (Vayikra 19:18), "Do not take revenge and do not bear a grudge."
For example: he asked someone for a favor, like a loan, and that person did not help him. Because of this he carries hatred for him in his heart. Later, when he sees something bad about that person, he spreads it to others.
First, by keeping it in his heart, he broke "Do not bear a grudge." Then, when he took revenge by spreading the bad things he saw, he also broke "Do not take revenge."
Instead, he should erase the whole matter from his heart.
